Mayfield’s Suspension And Drug Use - The What, Who, And Why

If you have been following the goings-on of NASCAR, then by now you have heard about Jeremy Mayfield’s suspension. The suspension made NASCAR news headlines after it was made known in the Darlington Raceway. Two other crew members from different teams were also suspended. Today, many question what drug Mayfield was supposedly using.

Not long before the Darlington announcement, Mayfield had also tested positive for drug use. Even so, he was allowed to qualify for the Darlingon race. Those in the know say officials allowed it while waiting for the results of Mayfield’s B drug test. Suspension was not Mayfield’s only penalty; his ownership of Mayfield motorsports was also invalidated.

Mayfield maintains the only substances that could have caused him to fail the test were over-the-counter medicines for colds and allergies. At present, Mayfield’s case is awaiting further ruling from NASCAR officials. While Mayfield cannot race, J.J Yeley will be racing in his stead. The Secret To Dale Earnhardt Jr Success

In the 2001 Daytona 500 it looked like Dale Earnhardt was in complete control of his race car. Suddenly Earnhardt crashed into the wall on turn four of the final lap in what seemed to be a fairly routine NASCAR wall crash. Further down the track Earnhardt’s son Dale Jr had finished the race second to Michael Waltrip and neither Waltrip or Dale Jr realized the serious nature of the crash. Earnhardt Sr did not regain consciousness and he was declared dead at 5:16pm that day. Suddenly the shadow that Dale Earnhardt Jr was driving under got very cold and very heavy.

Dale Jr tried to race the next week but finished 43rd out of 43 cars and he was involved in a wreck that looked a lot like the wreck that killed his father just the week before. But Dale Jr survived his crash and suddenly the spotlight was on the younger Earnhardt as not only were his father’s fans lost and confused but the newly formed Dale Earnhardt Racing Incorporated lost its founder and its leader and everyone was wondering if Dale Jr could fill his father’s shoes.

This is a list of NASCAR drivers in alphabetical order. If a driver has been left out it was not on purpose since this author does not have enough paper to discuss the best and worst of National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing drivers.

Driver A.J. Allmendinger drives car No. 10. The primary sponsor is Valvoline. Rick Viers is the crew chief of the red bull racing team that supports A.J. on the track.

National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing driver: Almirola, Aric drivers car number 8. The U.S. Army is the primary sponsor on the race track. Tony Gibson is the crew chief for the Dale Earnhardt Inc racing team. They compete with a Chevy vehicle.
